With the women’s march at an end, I want to keep up the momentum. For us not to forget, to keep going, to keep our eyes open and ready for action at every turn that is against us.
My illustration of Rosa Parks is to remind ourselves that we too like her can continue to stand up for our rights. She never gave up even when she was taken to jail after not giving up her seat in the bus for a white passenger.
Many of us will never know the experiences people faced head on with this type of racism and inequality back in her day. But we must know that we are still experiencing some of this currently in our lives. Especially after this past President’s 2016 election.
Many of the signs at the women’s march stated, “we will see you nice ladies at the next Black Lives Matter march?” Now move than ever we must stand up for others that are not like us but are being deprived of the same rights. Equality for all for there should be no color in our eyes nor gender. Let’s not fail the ones that came before us. Let’s keep on keeping on.
