A 50th Anniversary of Love – Portrait Photography

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

I had the honor of capturing the love between two people who have spent five decades together. I’ve known then for a handful of years and since then seen the strong bond they have between each other. They have an a warmth surrounding them making you feel right at home instantly. Upon first meeting Mrs. Brooks, she right away wanted to know more about me and oozed me with confidence when I told her I owned my house working as an independent women. Never did I see a look of pity like others do when I state I am unmarried childless. She exclaimed how strong and proud she was of me as if she was my grandmother giving me a loving talk. Her husband, Mr. Brooks is a ball of bright positive energy who makes you feel right at home. I know without a shadow of a doubt they are meant to be together, after all 5 decades is proof enough.

Inspirational Art of the Day – Circle of Life

We are all part of this earth. All interconnected meant to love each other, appreciate our surroundings, give it thanks and grow like everything else.

I’m afraid though at this time it is questionable. More than ever I feel this urge to help in whatever I can through action. Whether a simple smile to someone, highlighting another’s work or attending an activism group.

I feel tides are changing to get us into the deep sea, forcing to see our reflection. That we must not keep on the way we are doing at the present moment. That our world is fragile needing us to protect and serve it.

Many risks are attacking us like waves wanting to crush us. But we must rise, swim with hope and take action. Like they say after the rain comes a rainbow. At times things have to fall apart in order for us to truly see what needs to be put together to complete the puzzle.

If we don’t then I feel we will be destined to perish, settling into dust, into nothingness in space.

I wanted my illustration to have a feel of connection between us humans (all races/gender), animals and nature. A guide of how each elements is important to the cycle of life. One missing piece like the bee, can be the collapse of it all.

This video below gave me tingles, leaving me with a sense of urgency. We must not let humanity fail. Like the video states what will save us is, love. Love of strangers, love of the future and love of the truth. Love does make the world go round.

Found a source in which you can make or become part of a local activism group to stand up for our rights and create rights for all living things. Stats have shown taking action locally will have a greater chance of your voice being heard to where collectively combined all these groups can make a grand impact for change.

Inspirational Drawing Lettering of the Day – Unity

With recent talks of building a wall, sending and turning away less immigrants, I found it my duty to draw about this. To truly live successfully is to live with love for one another, not division. More than ever we have become divided.

Our true colors are showing and many do not like these colors. When will come the day in which we will no longer see color? Or that every color in the box is needed and appreciated so we can live in a colorful vibrant world.

Can you imagine being in just a white stark world? One dimensional? God created us all for a reason. To live to appreciate each of our uniqueness. For this uniqueness to play a part in this intricate world.

Wouldn’t it become dull when seeing everything the same? The action we can take now is to show love and kindness to the people we come across no matter what race, religion, gender they are. Send a postcard, note to someone you know is hurting or scared right now. Participate in the next action steps.

Elizabeth Gilbert one of my favorite people recently posted actionable steps to take on her Facebook page and also follow her on Instagram to follow the steps along the way. Grace Bonney from DesignSponge is another follow to receive actionable steps along the way. Please have a read/follow and act on any if possible.

Sending love and actionable love your way.

Drawing Message of the Day – Rosa Parks

Rosa Parks

With the women’s march at an end, I want to keep up the momentum. For us not to forget, to keep going, to keep our eyes open and ready for action at every turn that is against us.

My illustration of Rosa Parks is to remind ourselves that we too like her can continue to stand up for our rights. She never gave up even when she was taken to jail after not giving up her seat in the bus for a white passenger.

Many of us will never know the experiences people faced head on with this type of racism and inequality back in her day. But we must know that we are still experiencing some of this currently in our lives. Especially after this past President’s 2016 election.

Many of the signs at the women’s march stated, “we will see you nice ladies at the next Black Lives Matter march?” Now move than ever we must stand up for others that are not like us but are being deprived of the same rights. Equality for all for there should be no color in our eyes nor gender. Let’s not fail the ones that came before us. Let’s keep on keeping on.

Inspiring Drawing Quote of the Day – Sleeping Beauty

Dream not only in your sleep but all day long. Have a vivid day dreaming each day of how you want your life to be. Feel it, see it in vibrant colors, smell it, make it seem as it is happening in real time. This could help manifest your dreams into reality. But remember to take action as well, fake it till you make it!

Drawing Poem of the Day – Princess and the Pea

My Drawing Poem of the day

Thoughts can be overwhelming and at times so confusing you do not know what is true or not. This is the time to sit up, be still and listen to your inner self. And asking be it in the form of prayer or just asking asking to yourself can help answer your questions. If these thoughts are a way of reaching your dreams, don’t have them sleep away.

Adios 2016: My Visual Survey of 2016 and wishes for 2017

Following up with Gala Darling’s post about her visual survey, I have answered back in visuals as well.

Many have stated this year as glad to be over due to being dreadful, upside down, sideways, topsy turvy and so on.  But it’s important to also note the good as well as the bad. To question how we can grow from it or how we grew from it and what we can do next.

Many highs and lows in my life, growing can be as they say growing pains. But we need this in the process to become our fully grown beautiful self.

The beginning of this year I was living alone and now I am sharing a new home with my loving man. We have had our ups and downs by adjusting to our quirks but in the end I have learned and loved so much from it.

So here we go with mine below and in Gala’s words if you wish to do a summary visual, “have fun with it. Add questions in if you want! Post your answers on your blog or Facebook, or even email them to your friends!”

This was a ton of fun! And in Gala’s ending words, “If you end up doing this too, please let me know — I’d love to see your answers.”

Inspired by the month of Halloween and following the #Mabsdrawlloween Instagram Challenge, I drew from a prompt along with a poem. Now that Halloween is over I’ve decided to showcase all the pieces below to give out a bit of inspiration and that anything is possible. Enjoy!

Why President Obama is an Inspiration and will be Missed

hope2

Piece by Me

As the last debate drew to a close, I starting thinking about our current President. How would it feel to no longer have him guiding us as a nation and I couldn’t picture it. It has felt natural him being our President for so long. But soon he too draws to a close, on his presidency.

Each candidate had to state their case of why they should be the next president to which Trump stated, “if you vote for me as President then we will end the streak of Obama.” When these words came out of his mouth, uneasiness swept over me. I knew right then and there we were going to miss President Obama.

I listed my top reasons why President Obama has been inspirational to us and will be missed. He shown a light upon us that I pray will not be blown out but instead to keep fueling it. I believe at this point Hillary is the best candidate to do so.

OBAMACARE

He has acknowledged the not so wealthy people. I fall under this category so I know first hand how it as impacted me. My mother has been a single parent for many decades along with being self employed by cleaning houses (not a glamorous job at all). Before Affordable Care Act, she was without healthcare due in part to the high rocketed expenses and getting denied because of her age along with minor past health conditions. But because of this Act, my mother now has health care and CAN afford it and many more now have health insurance than ever before. This literally brings tears to my eyes as I write this because my mother has worked so hard all her life. She has put all her energy in her kids and into this country so them giving her something in return is rewarding.

Many of my mother’s clientele need people like my mother to do this type of work that so many others that are born here would never consider. My mother came from a third world country, Honduras to this country legally for a better life. Obama has promised he would help many people from other countries become legal and transition as an American successfully. Although this promise hasn’t been fully met, I have seen steps in which he helped many people in need such as accepting Syrian refugees into our country. Much work needs to be done in this area but if Trump is president I feel all will go backwards and hit an actual WALL.

VULNERABILITY

He is not afraid to show his emotions. Quite a few memorable times in which he let out tears during public speeches/announcements. Many thought this was a weakness but I saw it as a strength that he was able to show his vulnerability. Not caring what other people thought, being REAL. Letting out his emotions showed he deeply cares about us and about life in general.

Through these emotions, he believes we need to end the war that started before him. Although his vow will not be fulfilled he has removed many of the prisoners from Guantanamo Bay and bringing home a large amount of our soldiers back to us along with fewer troop casualties. With Clinton I am hoping this continues onward to reach the goal of entirely ending the war.

Not only is he vulnerable to us but he is as well to his family. He is not afraid to show affection in public to the first lady, Michelle and their two daughters. The care you have for your family speaks volumes of your character and gained trust from many of us.

LOVE FOR ENVIRONMENT

Not too long ago he was on the show, Running Wild with Bear Grylls. Bear led him along the Alaska region showing him how much the icebergs have been depleted over the years. I could see how intently he was listening, knowing we need to take action. He wanted to be on the show so he could reach a bigger audience to show that global warming is really a thing. This touched me deeply of how he cares about our Earth. If we are in denial of helping our planet then we are in denial of giving our future generations a livable beautiful place to be in. Just recently the world came together at the Paris COP21 for climate talks to reach a historic deal to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. This is a start into the green direction.

And I end with a video and recap!

His presidency wasn’t perfect and a lot more work needs to be done but along the way there were improvements with refreshing new ideas. I could list a ton but just a few more was how our economic has expanded now 78 months straight, unemployment has dropped and enjoying longest period of job creation. Along with having legalized same-sex marriage, and Iran stopping and dismantling nuclear weapons.

I end with a video of President Obama asking what a good sendoff for him would be and I second that! At the end of the day vote for who you believe will improve our nation and inspire us to do better!

Why to Follow the Values of The Addams Family

Wednesday-final-2

Mixed media by Me (reused ground coffee beans)

TBT’s drawing I did in honor of The Addams Family which we could learn a thing or two from them.

Family can be a headache at times. Hate to admit it but I’ve avoided calls from my own blood lines. I enjoy my alone time so breaks are needed, because let’s face it we can get tired of family….for most of our years they have been a part of our lives.

BUT I believe we were each chosen a family for a reason. Reason being to learn more about ourselves, to learn what we want to do and do not what to do with our own children and to love others by practicing through them. It can be challenging especially if we didn’t win the jackpot but if we try to find what we are grateful for from our family then we too can find gratefulness about ourselves.

I’m grateful for The Addams Family  who have a complex dynamic framework that we can follow for our own family and ourselves. I gathered up a few scenes from their movies describing how close of a webbed family they are.

  • First of all Morticia and Gomez show their unconditional love for each other through words and actions whether it’s behind closed doors or in front of the entire world.

  • They stand out by not blending in with the crowd. Not looking for other people’s approval of how to live their lives.

  • The adults go over and beyond to be part of the children’s lives, whether it’s just having dinner with them, teaching them a new skill or helping out on school projects with fun over the top ideas.
fester-kids

Simonprior.com

  • They throw the most extravagant fun parties for each other! After a hard days work doesn’t hurt to let loose and party it out.

  • They respect their elderlies, listen to their wise stories and learn from them. And there is no such thing as a nursing home, they live all together under one roof.

  • Even when troubles come upon them they stick together finding ways to overcome the obstacle and achieving at the end. They take consideration for their kids well beings through the tough times.

  • At the end of it all they are their for each other no matter what.

Make it a point to tell your family members how thankful you are to have them and why, through a text, a letter, over the phone or face to face playing a flying and catch skull game (ok maybe not that far). I am sure they will appreciate it however you reach out to them 🙂
